This article deals with how the environment affects characters.

Starvation and Thirst

Characters might find themselves without food or water and with no means to obtain them. In normal climates, Medium characters need at least a gallon (3,5 litres) of fluids and about a pound of decent food per day to avoid starvation. (Small characters need half as much.) In very hot climates, characters need two or three times as much water to avoid dehydration.

Water

  • Average alcoholic beverages counts as minus 1/4 the amount taken.
  • 1 day plus Con modifier hours.
  • Then Con check every 1 hour (DC 10 +1 for each previous check) or take 1D6 nonlethal.
  • Takes lethal after receiving equal amount of nonlethal to hit points.

Food

  • 3 days minus (Con + Str) bonuses x 2 hours.
  • Then Con check every 8 hours (DC 10 +1 for each previous check) or take 1D6 nonlethal.
  • Takes lethal after receiving equal amount of nonlethal to hit points.

Fatigue

  • Taking nonlethal damage from thirst or starvation induces fatigue.
  • Taking lethal damage from, thirst or starvation induces exhaustion.
  • Damage taken in this fashion can not be restored by magic, just food/water.

Note to self: Perhaps rewrite this so that it corresponds to the amount needed instead? As in setting a need per time period, and based on the percentage ingested, ic procures penalties?
