The City States of Anacia are former legendary city states at the south of the Southrealms and was the old cradle of civilizations. The First Empire was founded in this area.

One of the oldest noble families in Midrealms now knowns as Vasj claims "first city" heritage.

In mentality, the Anacia City States have a lot more in common with Southrealm peoples than they want to admit, but yet fairly little in common with Westrealmers.

Each city state normally includes a number of smaller settlements and a host of allied/enemy states. It's common for lesser states to be in the protection of a greater one in exchange for some of its wealth.

History

After the collapse of the First Empire, the city states reverted to being city states but the aftermath created numerous power vacuums and complicated the politics of the states interpolitics.

The areas have been kept from forming "kingdoms" due to intra-city traditions and politics (such as democracy-like ruling systems) but are still heavy on trade and represent the dominant economical centre for the entire southern continent.

Culture

Each city has a Basic Training for men and selected women. Each has different focus. Some intersending (political more than practical).

While Wyny claims to have the only real War Academy, and this is heard of in Anacia, a common response is "What do you mean war academy? Kindergarten?"

While true power has left the city states centuries ago, an inflated sense of self-worth remains. Even the formidable Mistofor would be overrun if an actual invasion from the north arrived. Still the feeling of once having been the centre of the world lives on and a significant scepticism about the trade influence of Capitoleum premeates the culture.

Several of the cities have great and impressive buildings, often having stood for many hundreds of years and sometimes over a millenia. Though there are not that many tall buildings.

Some conflicts actually end with leaders fighting or boardplaying.

There is a general mistrust of anything magical, especially the Sickle, which is hated. As such, the Sickle has made a point to open a well staffed and well-protected venue in every major Anacia city.

Religion

The head of the Orthodox Church is located in a city state.

common denominator is hate for Sickle. local mystic associations keeping it secret. internal laws that head of org needs to NOT have gift.
