Arthorn

The Arthorn family is a Baron House led by Tred who is in his 60s, taking care of his son Rakvin who has fallen ill, as well as his ageing father Nemrab. The house has some lands in northern part of the Distesan province in Sagese county (in Artipellin) and has acquired the title of Majordomo over the important trading town of Wellbarrow on Harmand's Road, close to the Kingdom border with Wyny.

History

The Arthorn family was originally an immigrant family with a small following who sought glory fighting for Artipellin and gained roots in northern Distesan over time, cultivating good relationships with other lords. The original meaning of the name has been lost to time.

The current House leader, Tred, helped the Distesan family during the wars with some collected Vasj houses in his youth and was elevated to Baron and given Majordomo privileges over Wellbarrow by Itxaro Distesan I. This was done on the provisory that Nemrab stepped down as head of the family and situated in an advisory position.

More recently Tred Arthorn lost his wife to the red scourge and later also a younger woman he was courting, called Clara.

The House suffered more setbacks in that the only heir, Rakvin, seemed uninterested in finding a suitable mate to continue the bloodline and later himsellf fell to the red scourge that he has survived bu has rendered him bedridden.

Current situation

The Arthorn family has never held great lands and the economically beneficial position of Majordomo is granted on the whims of Itxaro Distesan, making Tred very careful and always on top of his political gains and losses.

Following the Battle of Wellbarrow against a Vasj foretroop, he has gained some political hold and is hoping to receive military support from Gwennport.
